DVM will again be participating in the Mensa Foundation Scholarship Contest, which is open to U.S. citizens or permanent residents who will be enrolled in an accredited U.S. institution of post-secondary education for the 2021-22 academic year. Scholarships are awarded based solely on a 550-word essay expressing an applicant’s academic and professional goals and how their personal experiences will help them to accomplish those goals. Entrants do not need to be members of Mensa to participate.
Entries will be judged and awarded at three levels: local, regional and national.
The awards are made in amounts ranging from $300 to $2,000. Members of DVM will do the local judging, evaluating the content of the essay, as well as the organization, grammar and spelling.
DVM awards two $300 scholarships to local entrants and one local entrant will receive a $600 Mensa Foundation Award. DVM may also award a $500 Carol Gomez scholarship to a qualified applicant who is interested in pursuing studies in cultural enrichment or foreign languages.
The deadline for all entries is January 15, 2021.
All entries must be done online, and the forms can be accessed at
