DVM General Membership Meeting: Wed 11/18 @ 7PM (Zoom)

Even though we remain unable to join together for our monthly meetings in person, we can continue as a group online.   We are pleased that our first such meeting will feature a presentation and discussion of recent work done to restore and revitalize the extraordinary fountain display at Longwood Gardens.

LONGWOOD GARDENS FOUNTAIN

Longwood Gardens is renowned for its extraordinary fountains. Hear about the recent revitalization of the fountains; from stone restoration, new technology to engineering tunnels. As the culmination of the legacy and vision of Pierre S. du Pont, the garden combines classic landscape design with art, innovation, technology and extraordinary fountains, resulting in the finest performance fountain in the world.

Sarah Masterton, Longwood Gardens Vice President of Education, will provide our group with an informative update on restoration efforts. Sarah previously worked at the Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) in the UK, where she was Head of Education and Learning. At Longwood Gardens, Sarah oversees the development, implementation, and coordination of Longwood’s global education programs, which include: the two-year Professional Horticulture Program; the School & Youth Program, which attracts 45,000 students online and in person; the Co-Op Program; Continuing Education Program for adults; the High School and University Internship Program; the International Internship and Training Program; the 13-month Longwood Fellows Program; and the Longwood Library and Archives.

DVM plans to continue with online presentations for future months, and welcome suggestions for topics and speakers.  We will help with technical aspects of presentations.
